FIESTAS
The days when most people flock to the town are unquestionably the days when the fiestas in honour of the patron saints of Navacepeda de Tormes are celebrated; these are: - San Sebastián, 25 January.
- San Juan, 24 June.
- San Juan, 29 August. And the popular bank holiday, 1 May, known by the curious name of 'DÍA DE RODAR EL HUEVO' (THE DAY OF ROLLING THE EGG). This feast consists of boiling eggs using the roots of herbs known as 'rubia', which stain the eggs burgundy. Having made their stained eggs roll on the field, the whole village gathers together on the meadow for a pic-nic.
There are many routes in the Sierra de Gredos mountains, including various excursions leaving the Plataforma de Gredos which you access from Navacepeda de Tormes, or from Hoyos del Espino. You can get to places like El Circo de Gredoc where you can see La Laguna Grande and the summits: Almanzor (the highest) Los Hermanitos, Los Galayos, etc. We can also begin our routes from the Herguijuela road and from Navalperal de Tormes. In all these excursions you can enjoy the flora and fauna of the beautiful countryside including the Spanish ibex, known popularly as the mountain goat, and also the Gredos salamander, which can only be found here.
